The Salt Lake Tribune interviewed leaders at four Utah businesses about how companies can support women, keep them working, and on track for leadership positions during COVID-19.
Christine VanCampen, vice president of culture and engagement, spoke about CHG Healthcare’s commitment to providing access to mental health counseling and financial resources — such as the employee compassion fund, to provide quick relief to people.
VanCampen also commented on what experts are calling a “shecession,” a trend of women leaving the workforce in response to overwhelming responsibilities brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.
“All the reasons that are sort of underlying why we’re seeing this ‘shecession’ … have been pretty prevalent for a while,” with women still carrying a “disproportion amount” of household responsibilities and childcare, said VanCampen.
