Tara Fiscus: 20 years of embracing the CHG family

Looking back over the past 20 years at CHG, Tara Fiscus, a senior leader in our CompHealth divsion, has noticed a lot of changes. The evolution of the training programs, for example. Or replacing cumbersome files and faxes with electronic documents. She especially enjoyed it when CHG officially adopted its core values as a cornerstone of the company culture.

The only thing that hasn't changed over the years is Tara's devotion to the workplace family who won her over.

Early in her tenure, Tara struggled with a work procedure problem that could have had a negative impact on her career. But, instead of having to deal with the consequences alone, her leader and teammates rallied beside her for a resolution. Tara knew at this moment CHG wasn't just a job, but a place she could build a career.

"At other companies I worked, you took a chance of being disciplined or terminated for mistakes," says Tara. "I discovered that CHG believed that it takes all of us to make it happen and instead of pointing fingers, we came together to get it done. My leader didn’t get upset with me. Instead, they asked me what I learned from the situation so I could be successful in the future. At that point, I realized what an amazing company I was working for and had no plans of working anywhere else."

Tara attests being vulnerable and receptive to feedback is an important key to success. Opening up to her peers for synergy and her leaders for guidance has helped her get to where she is today. Our Putting People First culture fosters an environment where Tara can grow, thrive, and help others along her way.

"There are so many things I like about working here — most of all, the people," Tara shares. "We truly live by our core values and it's why I look forward to coming to work every day."

Learn more about Tara with this Q & A:

What was your job title when you first started working at CHG?

I started as an administrative assistant on the GOV team.

If you had a day to do anything at all, what would you do?

I would either be in the mountains or on a beach doing nothing but relaxing and enjoying some vitamin D!

What is your go-to karaoke song?

That would be Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks.

If you could share a meal with any three people, living or dead, who would they be and why?

Oprah – because she is Oprah; Blake Shelton – love him and I think he would be a fun person to enjoy a meal with and have lots of laughs; Mother Teresa – would love to hear more stories of her life.
